Allan Freyer

Allan Freyer is the Director of Workers’ Rights at the NC Justice Center, where he oversees the Center’s policy and campaign efforts aimed at helping North Carolina’s low-wage workers earn higher wages, receive adequate health and safety protections, and access crucial work family supports like paid leave and unemployment insurance. He also has extensive experience writing and advocating for smarter, more equitable economic development policies and is currently working with several local governments on updating their business incentive policies.

Before joining the Justice Center in 2011, he spent more than a decade working on federal, state, and local economic policy, including service as a policy advisor to three Members of the United States Congress and as an independent consultant to nonprofits, universities, and state and local government agencies. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Duke University and a Masters in City & Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he is also currently pursuing his PhD in Economic Development.
