Videos from 10 North Carolina town hall meetings on public investment released
RALEIGH (July 1) -- At town hall meetings across the state, members of the Together NC coalition collected powerful stories from everyday North Carolinians about the impact of public investment in their communities.
Participants spoke about their children's access to education, the ability of disabled family members to remain in their homes, job re-training for displaced workers, and more.
Now, highlights of these meetings are available to media and the general public, including stirring excerpts collected from each town hall. Videos are available at the Together NC YouTube page, http://www.youtube.com/user/togethernc
“The video from these meetings shows people from all walks of life speaking with one voice, saying we need to preserve these vital public investments,” said Meg Gray Wiehe, a policy analyst with the NC Budget & Tax Center and one of the Together NC Coalition's organizers.
The “Best Of” video compiles incisive commentary from each of the 10 meetings, which began May 18 with events in Fayetteville and Asheville, and continued through a June 23 town hall in Boone. Other events were held in Rocky Mount, Winston-Salem, Durham, Charlotte, Pittsboro, Greenville and Elizabeth City.
Excerpts from the video or audio clips are available to media members wishing to use the material in their work. Also, many of the parties seen speaking in the video are available for interviews.
