The Health Access Coalition director honored for efforts to educate on the Affordable Care Act
RALEIGH (March 21, 2012) – Adam Searing, director of the NC Justice Center’s Health Access Coalition, has been selected by the White House as a “Champion of Change,” part of President Barack Obama’s “Winning the Future” initiative.
Searing will be honored at event in Washington on March 21, alongside nine other health care advocates and professionals from across the country, for his work to educate others on the impact and benefits of the Affordable Care Act.
The Health Access Coalition is North Carolina’s leading voice for progressive health care reforms that address the needs of the uninsured and underinsured. During his tenure as director of HAC, Searing fought to keep health plans and hospitals nonprofit and community-focused, won and helped implement expansions of the state Medicaid program, and worked to help secure passage of the national health reform law. Searing was named Health Advocate of the Year by the national consumer group Families USA earlier this year.
Searing’s article, “Changing Health Care Implementation: As Told by the Stories of the American People,” is also featured on the Champions of Change site.
