STATEMENT: Justice Center applauds Gov. Cooper’s plan to expand Medicaid, close coverage gap

RALEIGH (January 4, 2017) — Today, Governor Roy Cooper announced that he will seek to close the coverage gap for nearly half a million North Carolinians by accepting Medicaid expansion.

The North Carolina Justice Center applauds Gov. Cooper for this effort, as it will not only provide access to affordable health care for hundreds of thousands of currently uninsured North Carolinians but also bring investment into our rural communities, protect our hospitals, and create roughly 40,000 good-paying jobs for the state.
