Eastern North Carolina Hurricane Recovery Fund
This fund supports groups that do not have the capacity to receive online donations but are already providing leadership and offering direct services to those bearing the brunt of economic and environmental devastation in the region.

North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund
The NC Disaster Relief Fund is accepting contributions for Hurricane Florence damage. Contributions will help with immediate unmet needs of Hurricane Florence victims. Make your contribution online by secure link or text “Florence” to 20222.

Food Bank of Eastern and Central NC: Virtual Food Drive
Support throughout disaster relief efforts provides essential meals for hungry neighbors. Once disaster relief and recovery needs have been met, remaining funds and food will be used to support ongoing hunger-relief efforts.

FOOD ASSISTANCE

The NC Department of Health and Human Services announced two new flexibilities for people and families in the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) program to help those affected by Hurricane Florence. These temporary flexibilities will apply to all 100 counties and the more than 600,000 households enrolled in the FNS program.

North Carolinians in the FNS program will be able to purchase hot food, including food prepared for immediate consumption, from authorized Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) retailers using their EBT card. This change is effective until October 31. Customers should inquire first with the store to see if they can process hot food purchases. It is important to note this is for authorized retailers, not restaurants.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture also approved a waiver to allow extended time for SNAP participants to submit claims for food lost in the disaster. Affected households in North Carolina now have until October 15 to report food losses and request replacement benefits so they can purchase food to make up for what was lost in the storm.

RESOURCES FOR BUSINESSES AFTER DISASTER

Carolina Small Business Fund provides low-interest loans to businesses affected by the storm. The fund provides gap financing as a complement to Small Business Administration and other disaster recovery programs.

NC Rural Center. Rapid Recovery Loans for businesses and farms in the immediate aftermath of the storm—accepting loan applications for six-month interest free loans (up to $50,000) beginning the week of 9/24.

U.S. Small Business Administration Officer of Disaster Assistance provides low-interest disaster loans to businesses of all sizes, private non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, inventory, and business assets that have been damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster.
