The nonprofit will use radio, online advertising to support expanding health insurance to 500,000 North Carolinians.
RALEIGH (September 10, 2015) — Today, the NC Justice Center will start running radio and digital ads urging state residents to contact Gov. Pat McCrory and ask him “Where’s the Plan?” to expand health insurance coverage in the state.
North Carolina has the opportunity to take advantage of federal funding to expand health insurance coverage to 500,000 more people. At the beginning of this year, Gov. McCrory told several news outlets that he would wait for a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court in the latest Affordable Care Act challenge to announce whether or not he supports a state-specific plan to extend insurance coverage to those currently locked out of the system.
That decision was announced in June, but Gov. McCrory has still not released a plan.
The ads will air on WRAL-FM 101.5 and will say: “More than 500,000 North Carolinians need affordable health insurance. Most of us are working. We are parents and veterans. Some of us are in long-term recovery. We don’t earn enough to buy private insurance. We don’t currently qualify for Medicaid. Gov. McCrory can propose a plan to close this coverage gap.”
This radio campaign will be paired with digital ads directing readers to the NC Left Me Out website.
