Unions are powerful mechanisms for ensuring the benefits of economic growth are shared fairly with the workers who drive the state’s economy. Workers who belong to a union are paid higher wages and are more likely to receive important benefits like health insurance and retirement benefits than non-unionized ones.
Unfortunately, North Carolina’s unionization rate is the nation’s lowest – the legacy of anti-union hostility and punitive laws. The Justice Center works to ensure workers have a meaningful right to decide whether or not to join a union and bargain collectively over wages, benefits and conditions.
