On June 11, 2024, our Fair Chance Criminal Justice Project partnered with AJ’s Cheesecakes to host a Second Chance Business Mixer in Durham, North Carolina. The event brought together a diverse array of local business leaders, juvenile-involved individuals, and reentry service providers to discuss collective efforts to support justice-involved people seeking to obtain and maintain meaningful employment.

During the mixer, participants discussed the transformative power of Second Chance employment policies and practices. These initiatives not only provide opportunities for individuals impacted by the criminal justice system but also enrich workplaces with dedicated and hardworking employees.

The discussions underscored the numerous benefits of integrating Second Chance initiatives into business practices, and we are grateful to all who attended and contributed to this important conversation.
